We have become the first training provider to achieve IOSH accreditation for a 1 day Evacuation Chair Train the Trainer course. This qualification will enable you to train others on the safe use of evacuation chairs. A practical approach is taken to ensure plenty of hands-on practice with regard to both the practical elements and the training issues all under expert supervision.
Key benefits of the course:
- Nationally recognised qualification
- Enables you to conduct in-house evacuation chair training, when time permits, if new staff require training or existing staff need refresher training
- Generates cost savings through bringing skills in-house
- Delivered by a highly experienced instructor
Why should we consider the use of evacuation chairs?
Under the Equality Act 2010, companies are required to make reasonable adjustments to allow access to their buildings and services for disabled individuals such as workers, visitors and service users. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, there is a duty to ensure that anyone in the building can safely leave in the event of a fire. Conventional lifts will not be usable during a fire, so it can be a problem to safely evacuate those that are less mobile if they need to descend staircases.
An evacuation chair is typically like a wheelchair with the addition of tracked skis which provide friction resistance and thus enable a single chair operator to make a controlled descent with a passenger.
